Membership in Plymouth Congregational Church of Lansing Individuals wishing to become members of Plymouth Church indicate a willingness to unite in the Church's Covenant, present the proper request or letter of transfer, and be approved by the Board of Deacons. Joining by Letter of Transfer If you are a member of a Christian Church that recognizes other Christian Churches for purposes of transferring membership, you should request a Letter of Transfer from that Church to Plymouth. The letter should be addressed to the Clerk of the Church (no name necessary). Joining by Reaffirmation of Faith If you are unable to acquire a Letter of Transfer but are (or have been) a member of another Christian Church, you should inform our Minister of your circumstances and indicate that you now wish your membership in a particular Christian Church to be here. Letters of Transfer may not be available because your Church does not issue such letters, upir Church is no longer functioning, you are no longer an "active" member of a Church, etc. Joining by Baptism and Confession of Faith Baptism is only orderly if you have never received Christian baptism. Congregational Churches honor the form and practice of all other Christian Churches in this matter and would never insist upon a second baptism. Those who have never united with a particular Christian Church will be asked to declare their faith in Jesus Christ as well as to unite with this Church in the Covenant.
